Free Artwork Giveaway

The Occupy Movement (2011) was “an international populist socio-political movement that expressed opposition to social and economic inequality and to the perceived lack of real democracy around the world.” During discussions around the 1% controlling the majority of the wealth in the country, I began questioning why I was making art and watching it get sold mostly to the wealthy.

I had many people tell me they wished they could afford my art, yet didn’t have any original art in their home. It felt weirdly wrong that people I knew, who loved art, couldn’t afford it. Yet, many that could afford original art simply thought of it as an investment.

That year I made a conscious decision to give away at least one piece of artwork, completely free, every day, for an entire year.

Clearly, that meant at least 365 works of art.

Ultimately, I gave away over 500 pieces.
